Job Description: Nursery Nurse
Position: Nursery Nurse Working Hours: 40 hours per week Age Group: Children from 6 months to 4 years.
Job Summary: As a Nursery Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing quality care and education to children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years. Working within a nursery setting, you will create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow. Your primary responsibilities will include supervising and engaging with children, planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, and supporting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
1. Childcare and Supervision:
- Provide attentive care and supervision to children within the nursery.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children, maintaining a secure and nurturing environment.
- Observe children to identify individual needs, interests, and developmental progress.
2. Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Plan and deliver a range of stimulating and age-appropriate activities to support children's learning and development.
- Foster creativity, curiosity, and exploration through play-based learning.
- Incorporate a variety of educational resources, including toys, books, and sensory materials, to enhance children's experiences.
3. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development:
- Promote positive behaviour and social interactions among children.
- Support children in developing self-help skills, independence, and confidence.

4. Communication and Partnership:
- Establish effective communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum qualification of a Level 3 Childcare or Early Years Education qualification.
- Experience working with children in a nursery or similar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and early years education principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and parents.
- Must have knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and first aid procedures.

Job Description: Deputy Manager
Position: Deputy Manager Working Hours: 40 hours per week Age Group: Children from 6 months to 4 years.
Role Overview: As the Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the nursery, leading staff teams, supporting children’s development, and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. You will act as the Manager in their absence and help drive continuous improvement across the setting.
- Operational Leadership:
- Support the Nursery Manager in the effective daily running of the nursery.
- Ensure compliance with all Ofsted, EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
- Lead staff meetings, supervise room leaders, and assist with rotas and staffing ratios.
- Oversee planning and delivery of high-quality educational programmes.
2. Childcare & Curriculum:
- Promote best practice in teaching, learning, and child development.
- Ensure all children’s individual needs and interests are met.
- Monitor and track children’s progress, supporting assessment and key-person responsibilities.
- Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
3. Staff Management:
- Support recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management of staff.
- Inspire and motivate the team to deliver exceptional childcare.
- Conduct supervision meetings and contribute to staff development plans.
4. Parent & Community Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
- Communicate effectively regarding children’s progress, wellbeing, and nursery events.

Person Specification
Essential
- Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years/Childcare.
- Previous experience in a senior nursery role (e.g., Room Leader, Third in Charge, Deputy Manager).
- Strong understanding of EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- A positive, supportive, and proactive approach.
Desirable
- First Aid and Safeguarding training.
- Experience supporting inspections or leading teams.
- Knowledge of SEN procedures.
